Perfect Continues Tenses

Perfect Continues Tenses terdiri dari: Present Perfect Progressive, Past PerfectProgressive, Future Perfect Progressive. Yang pertama adalah Present Perfect Progressive.




Present Perfect Continues Tense

Present Perfect Continues Tense gives the idea that one event is in progress immediately before, up to, until another time or event. It is used to express the duration of the first event.

Present perfect continues tense adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk menyatakan aksi yang telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu atau aksi telah dimulai di masa lalu dan terus berlanjut sampai sekarang. Aksi pada present perfect continues tense biasanya berdurasi waktu tertentu dan ada relevansinya.


Function
     1.     Expresses an activity that is unfinished. Example:
·    She has been watching some movies you lent me and she has got two movies to watch.
·        I have been spending my money and I have spent Rp.20.000.

     2.     Expresses how many/ how much an action have been completed. Example:
·        I have been riding new car for last two weeks
·        You have been cooking in the new kitchen

Pattern
     1.     Positive
     S + has/have + been + V-Ing

Example:
·        I have been studying for two hours
·        have been working with my mother  all day, and now I want some delicious foods.
(Saya telah bekerja dengan ibu saya sepanjang hari, dan sekarang saya ingin beberapa makanan lezat.)
·        I’ve been driving  a car through the savana for an hour.
(Saya telah mengendarai mobil menembus savana selama satu jam.)
·        The passangers have been waiting for the next  flight since this morning.
(Para penumpang telah menunggu penerbangan berikutnya sejak pagi ini.)

    2.     Negative
    S + has/have + not + been + V-Ing

Example:
·        I have not been studying for two hours
·        haven’t  been working with my mother  all day, and now I want some delicious foods.
·        I haven’t  been driving  a car through the savana for an hour.
·        The passangers haven’t been waiting for the next  flight since this morning.

    3.     Interrogative
    has/have + S + been+V-Ing.......?

Example:
·        Have you been studying for two hours?
·        Have you been working with my mother  all day, and now I want some delicious foods?
·        Have you  been driving  a car through the savana for an hour?
·        have the passangers  been waiting for the next  flight since this morning?

     ·        for 4 years
     ·        since 1993
     ·        how long?
     ·        the whole week

Past Perfect Continues Tense

Past Perfect Tense gives the idea that one event was in progress immediately before, up to, until another time or event in the past.

Past perfect continuous tense adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu aksi (dengan durasi waktu tertentu) telah selesai pada suatu titik waktu tertentu di masa lampau.

Function
      1.     Expresses an activity before another activity to show cause and effect. Example:
·        Lina was so sleepy because she had been reading a novel
·        I had been spending my money because I had much money

     2.     Expresses an activity that started in the past and continued up until another time in the past. Example:
·        They had been talking for five hours before they went home
·        I had been waiting for an hour before you came.

Pattern
     1.     Positive
     S + had + been + V-Ing

Example:
·        I had been studying for two hours before my friend came
·        When the guests came, we had been waiting for an hour.
·        By the time the english teacher came, the students had been reading a half part of the text.
·        had been working with my computer all day, and all I wanted to eat some delicious food.

     2.     Negative
     S + had + not + been + V-Ing

Example:
·        I  had not been studying for two hours before my friend came
·        When the guests came, we had not been waiting for an hour.
·        By the time the english teacher came, the students had not been reading a half part of the text.

Future Perfect Continues Tense

Future  Perfect Tense gives the idea that one event was in progress immediately before, up to, until another time or event in the future.

Future perfect continuous tense adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan bahwa suatu aksi akan sudah berlangsung selama sekian lama pada titik waktu tertentu di masa depan.

Function
     1.     Expresses an action that will last for a specified period of time at a definite moment in the future. Example:
·        My mother will have been cooking for 2 hours before my father goes home.
·        I will have been living with my husband for 3 years.
·        Before the test starts, Shinta will have been studying for an hour.

     2.     Expresses a certainty about the cause of future situation . Example:
·        He will be very tired because he will have been working for 8 hours
·        I will be having rest for ten minutes because I will have been doing the homework.
·        They will have been cooking for a long time so they will be very dirty.

Pattern
     1.     Positive
     S + will have + been + V-Ing

Example:
·        I will have studying for two hours before my friend came
·        Andra will have been waiting for three months when the corn is ready to harvest.
·        You will have been writing the report before the branch manager observes.
·        The passangers will have been waiting for the next flight since this morning.

    2.     Negative
    S +will + not + have + been  V-Ing

Example:
·        I will not  have been studying for two hours before my friend came
·        Andra will haven’t been waiting for three months when the corn is ready to harvest.
·        You will haven’t been writing the report before the branch manager observes.
·        The passangers will haven’t been waiting for the next flight since this morning.

    3.     Interrogative
    Will + S + have + been+V-Ing.......?

Example:
·        Will you  have been studying for two hours before your friend came?
·        will Andra  have been waiting for three months when the corn is ready to harvest?
·        will  you have been writing the report before the branch manager observes?
