Perfect
Continues Tenses terdiri dari: Present Perfect Progressive, Past PerfectProgressive, Future Perfect Progressive. Yang pertama adalah Present Perfect
Progressive.
Present Perfect Continues Tense
Present
Perfect Continues Tense gives the idea that one event is in progress
immediately before, up to, until another time or event. It is used to express
the duration of the first event.
Present perfect continues tense adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk
menyatakan aksi yang telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu atau aksi
telah dimulai di masa lalu dan terus berlanjut
sampai sekarang. Aksi pada present perfect continues tense biasanya berdurasi waktu tertentu dan
ada relevansinya.
Function
1. Expresses
an activity that is unfinished. Example:
· She has been watching some movies you
lent me and she has got two movies to watch.
·
I have been spending my money and I have
spent Rp.20.000.
2. Expresses
how many/ how much an action have been completed. Example:
·
I have been riding new car for last two
weeks
·
You have been cooking in the new kitchen

Example:

I have been working with
my mother all day, and now I want some
delicious foods.

Past
Perfect Tense gives the idea that one event was in progress immediately before,
up to, until another time or event in the past.
Past perfect continuous tense adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk
mengungkapkan suatu aksi (dengan durasi waktu tertentu) telah selesai pada
suatu titik waktu tertentu di masa lampau.
Function
1. Expresses
an activity before another activity to show cause and effect. Example:

Lina was so sleepy because she had been
reading a novel
·
I had been spending my money because I had
much money
2. Expresses
an activity that started in the past and continued up until another time in the
past. Example:

They had been talking for five hours
before they went home
·
I had been waiting for an hour before
you came.

Future Perfect Tense gives the idea that one event
was in progress immediately before, up to, until another time or event in the
future.
Future perfect continuous tense adalah suatu bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk
mengungkapkan bahwa suatu aksi akan sudah
berlangsung selama sekian lama pada titik waktu tertentu di masa depan.
Function
1. Expresses
an action that will last for a specified period of time at a definite moment in
the future. Example:

My mother will have been cooking for 2
hours before my father goes home.
·
I will have been living with my husband
for 3 years.
·
Before the test starts, Shinta will have
been studying for an hour.
2. Expresses
a certainty about the cause of future situation . Example:
·
He will be very tired because he will
have been working for 8 hours
·
I will be having rest for ten minutes
because I will have been doing the homework.
·
They will have been cooking for a long
time so they will be very dirty.
